North Lincolnshire Council is urging householders to look out for a scam operating in the district.
The local authority has issued an alert about fish being sold door-to-door in the Broughton and Appleby area after an 82 year-old lady handed over £158 to a man with a van but didn't receive the fish she asked for.
The suggestion is the fish is poor quality, over-priced and not as described, the council says.
It is urging people to get in touch if they have had similar experiences....
