EMPLOYEES in the basic oxygen steel-making (BOS) plant on the Tata Steel works in Scunthorpe have taken steps to reduce the annual £25 million-plus energy bill.Better use of gas generated during the steel-making process has led to savings of £125,000-plus in just eight weeks.Delighted Tata Steel bosses estimate if the performance can be maintained, the saving in the first year in the 42-year-old plant will amount to £800,000.Company spokesman Jakub Buczma told works...
