KEY workers at two Tata Steel plants on the brink of closure are set to be retained, on 60 per cent of their salary.
The move is part of £195,000 government support package and comes after last year's announcement that the Dalzell and Clydebridge would be mothballed with the loss of 270 jobs.
The workers will also be given training so the plants can return to production as quickly as possible should the opportunity arise.
