A TEENAGE Scunthorpe United fan narrowly avoided jail after punching a police officer to the ground after a match, leaving him "drinking through a straw".
The life-long Iron fan was also given a football banning order for five years after what a judge described as an "unpleasant example of football hooliganism".
Jack Favill, 19, of Kingfisher Way, admitted punching the Cambridgeshire Police officer after United's home game with Peterborough on November 28.
