Scunthorpe people who enjoy visiting Central Park should raise a glass to the foresight of councillors 60 years ago.
During 1956 plans were drawn up to establish the park to mark the borough's 21st birthday the following year.
The first phase cost £25,755 and a loan was sanctioned by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government for work to start in January 1957.
