DOCTORS fear a super-strain of gonorrhoea that was detected in Scunthorpe last year could spread across the country.
An alert has this week been issued by Public Health England after it emerged 34 adults have been diagnosed with the strain nationally in 18 months.
Gonorrhea can usually be treated by using the antibiotics ceftriaxone and azithromycin. But the new strain is resistant to the azithromycin.
