NEW figures reveal a pet dog is stolen every week.
A total of 72 dogs have been stolen across the Humberside Police force area in the past 18 months – often to be sold or bred from.
Staffordshire bull terriers were by far the most preyed upon breed with 23 stolen.
Cocker spaniels, King Charles spaniels, chihuahuas and pugs were also among thieves' favourites.
