NINE LONG-serving employees have led the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Asda superstore in Scunthorpe's Burringham Road.
Among the revellers was the quintet of Sue Crawshaw, Jane Emmerson, Nigel Miller, Allan Tinmurth and William Spink who started work when the store opened on October 16 1976.
Sue, an employee in the bakery, has proved that Asda is a family business – for her two daughters have followed her on to the shop floor.
