TRIBUTES have been paid to one of Scunthorpe United's most successful captains, Frank Marshall.
The former wing-half, who joined the Iron in 1957, is reported by the club to have died at the age of 86.
Marshall started his youth career at Sheffield United and Scarborough in the late 1940s, before signing for Rotherham in 1951.
He subsequently joined Scunthorpe in 1957, making 80 league appearances in a two-year stay with the club.
