THE 3,000 employees on the Scunthorpe British Steel works have been offered the chance to extend their working lives beyond normal retirement.
The company has upgraded its pre-retirement policy following consultations with the trade unions.
The bid to interest elder workers, who are considering retirement, in either job-sharing or part-time employment is a move to retain experience and skills on the 2,000 acre site.
