JEREMY Corbyn has been elected as the new leader of the Labour party.
Corbyn won the contest in the first round of voting, with 251,417 votes.
The turnout was 422,664, with Tom Watson elected deputy leader.
Corbyn managed to win 59.5 per cent of the votes, with Andy Burnham getting 19 per cent in second place.
Yvette Cooper won 17 per cent of the vote and Liz Kendall managed 4.5 per cent.
