Taxpayers could face a potential £13 million-plus bill for looking after 53 Syrian child refugees who are to be resettled in North Lincolnshire.
The 53 allocation spread over five years has been agreed between North Lincolnshire Council and the Home Office.
It is understood the Yorkshire and Humber region will take 1,500 refugees as a whole.
It is expected the scheme will start this summer.

POLICE have made three arrests as part of Operation Impact which has seen officers raiding houses in the centre of town this morning in a major crackdown on crime.

Fire crews called to Tesco car park blaze
HUMBERSIDE Fire and Rescue were called to a fire in a Tesco car park this morning (Monday, May 23).
A car set alight in the car park on Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe because of an electrical fault.
A spokesman for Humberside Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to a small vehicle fire at 9.08am this morning and we were on the scene by 9.14am."The fire was caused by accidental ignition due an electrical fault and the engine overheated."

THREE men were arrested in Scunthorpe this morning after police kicked off a week cracking down on crime with an early morning drugs raid.
Uniformed and plain clothes officers forced their way into a property in Fox Street off Frodingham Road at 9am on the first day of Operation Impact in the town.

Man in court charged with wounding, weapons & drugs offences
A SCUNTHORPE man has appeared in court charged with offences including wounding with intent and being concerned in the supply of cocaine.
Archie Pollock, 27, of Crosby House, appeared at Grimsby and Cleethorpes Magistrates' Court today (Monday, May 23).
He is also charged with two offences of driving while disqualified and two of driving without insurance, as well as being in possession of a machete in a public place on February 2.

Firefighters called to blaze on M180
FIREFIGHTERS were called to an incident on the M180 this afternoon (Monday, May 23).
It happened at around 2.40pm and a crew from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service was sent to the scene.
The incident involved around 50 square metres of grass on fire at the westbound sliproad onto the motorway from the M181.
Firefighters from Scunthorpe were at the scene for around an hour and used one hose reel to deal with the fire.

Guy Martin to attempt new world record in Lincolnshire
NORTH Lincolnshire motorcycle racer Guy Martin is set to attempt another world record, it has been revealed.
The speedster, who grew up in Kirmington, will attempt the challenge as part of the latest series of his Channel 4 programme Speed with Guy Martin.
He revealed on social network Twitter this afternoon (Monday, May 23) that it will see him try to set a new world hydrofoil record.

DRIVERS are urged to be aware of lane closures on the M18 this week due to planned roadworks.
There are likely to be delays on the southbound carriageway between J5 (M180, Scunthorpe) and J3 (A18, Scunthorpe).

A DESPERATE search is underway to find a missing dog who suffers with epilepsy and is in urgent need of medication.
Six-year-old Rexine went missing from her foster home in Hibaldstow on Sunday, May 15.
She had recently been put into foster care after her elderly owner became ill and moved into a care home.

TWO Humberside Police officers will run the New York Marathon in memory of two officers who were killed while on duty in Manchester in 2012.

Scunthorpe man has tumour 'size of melon' removed after 24 years
A SCUNTHORPE man who lived with a tumour the "size of a melon" on his neck for more than 20 years has undergone surgery to remove it.
Ian Crow, 66, of Ashby, underwent surgery at Scunthorpe hospital to remove the lump which weighed a whopping 1.2kg and is believed to be the third largest in the world of its kind.

Police attend incident at Scunthorpe town centre car park
REPORTS say a large police presence was in attendance at an incident at a town centre car park in Scunthorpe last night.
A source said officers from Humberside Police were surrounding a car in the Mary Street car park, at the back of the former TJ Hughes store, at 7pm yesterday (Monday, May 23) and wouldn't let anyone into the car park.
