Man sentenced for assault & criminal damage
THE following cases were dealt with at North Lincolnshire Magistrates' Court:
ADAM DOUGLAS MITCHELL, 31, of Teale Street, Scunthorpe, pleaded guilty to assault by beating and causing criminal damage. He was given a 12-month community order with a rehabilitation activity requirement and a 100-hour unpaid work requirement. He was also given a 24-month restraining order and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85.

A SCUNTHORPE couple have celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary.
George Marsden and his wife Joan met at the REME headquarters in the cavalry barracks at York.
Joan, 96, from Durham, was working as a telephonist and George borrowed money off her to buy a cup of coffee. The couple went to the cinema and romance then blossomed between the pair.
They got married six months later on December 23, 1946.

Transport minister Andrew Jones says the move would help make roads in Britain safer.

Search continues for man who fell in River Trent
POLICE are still searching for a man who fell into the River Trent almost a month ago.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, fell from a vessel at Gunness Wharf on Saturday, December 3, which sparked a large search and rescue operation involving police, coastguard rescue teams and a helicopter.
Humberside Police confirmed the man, who has been named by his brother as Vicente Delgado, is still missing and that the marine unit is continuing to conduct regular searches of the Trent.

ROADWORKS are planned for three days in a row on the A15 in northern Lincolnshire.
Drivers are being advised about the work by Lincolnshire County Council, the highway authority.
Caenby Corner's Ermine Street at Spital in the Street will be affected six hours each day from Tuesday, January 3 to Friday, January 6 while 'heavy cable' work is undertaken by BT.
