A £9-million aid package has been announced to support the 900 Scunthorpe steelworkers facing redundancy at Tata Steel.
The funding package comprises of £3 million from UK Steel Enterprise to support local economic regeneration in Scunthorpe, which is being matched by the UK Government. In addition, the Government is separately providing up to £3 million specifically for training of affected employees via local further education colleges.
