GALE force winds have destroyed sails on a historic windmill.
Strong winds battered the Mount Pleasant Windmill on North Cliff Road in Kirton-in-Lindsey yesterday afternoon (Sunday, November 29) causing half of the sails and the fan tail to blow off.
Owner Mervin Austin has been left picking up the pieces and said it happened due to "freak conditions".
He said: "We were hit by an enormous gust and the fan tail ended up 100m in the field across the road."
