North Lincolnshire Council is considering creating a job for a collections assistant at the museum in Scunthorpe.
The post will be 'fixed term' until March 31, 2018.
The annual cost amounts to £22,629 but an Arts Council England grant will pay the full cost, if the council makes an appointment.
A report says creating the post "will enable us to deliver improvements to the galleries at the North Lincolnshire Museum."
