The Scunthorpe steel industry has undergone many changes down the decades, and continues to do so, with Tata Steel looking to sell.
Various furnaces, rolling mills and ancillary plant have been commissioned, enjoyed long and successful working lives but then been closed.
This applies to the three Scunthorpe works - Appleby-Frodingham, Redbourn and Lysaght's (Normanby Park) which all came together in 1967 when nationalisation created the British Steel Corporation.
