AMBER Taverns are to invest £40,000 on refurbishing premises in Scunthorpe, including an upgrade of the first floor toilets.
Area manager Mark Wass explained that the High Street's Penny Bank would be closed from 11pm on Sunday (January 17) until 5pm on Friday, January 22.
The refurb coincides with the fifth anniversary of the opening of the pub, following a £200,000 conversion of the former Mint premises in October 2011.

THE Tata Steel works in Scunthorpe is on the brink of being saved, according to reports today.
Tata chiefs – who are in the process of making 900 workers redundant – have been locked in talks with Greybull Capital over the sale of the Long Products Division.

SCUNTHORPE has seen a glimpse of the predicted snow and sleetto to come by the Met Office.
A quick flurry of light snow hit the town today (Thursday, January 14) at around 11am.
And with teeth chattering temperatures set to continue, Scunthorpe could see more snow and sleet during the week and over the weekend.

Driver alert update: Reports of 'people on road' on M180
REPORTS are coming in of people on the M180 motorway.The incident, at around 10am, is said to be on the M180 westbound between J2, A161 (Gainsborough) and J1, A18 (Thorne).11.30 update: It is believed the reports this morning may have been caused by a sheet of steel on the motorway.A spokeswoman for the Highways Agency said that a sheet of steel was found between J1 and J2 and on a bridge between J2 and J3.The road is now clear.

A SHOP in Scunthorpe town centre is facing demolition.
A notice has been placed in the window of the former Walmsley's furniture store at the junction of Roberts Street and Frances Street.
The notice says an application has been lodged with North Lincolnshire Council for permission to demolish the property.
