Kaiser Chiefs to play show at Market Rasen Racecourse
INDIE rock band Kaiser Chiefs are set to perform at Market Rasen Racecourse this summer.
The Brit Award-winning, multi-million-selling band will play an open-air show at the northern Lincolnshire racecourse on Saturday, August 19.

Civil engineer 'was brave until very end'
A FUNERAL service for former Scunthorpe civil engineer and rugby union player Vince Mallen will be held tomorrow (Friday, February 24) at 12.40pm.
Father-of-five Mr Mallen died on February 5, aged 76, after losing his battle against Parkinson's Disease, lung cancer and pneumonia.

Thug Clint Clay 'went for man's head' with machete
VIOLENT offender Clint Clay warned a man that he was going to kill him before attacking him with a machete, a court heard.
Craig Lowe, prosecuting, said that Mr Potts was in Argyll Street, Scunthorpe, when he spotted Clay and two other men.
Clay jumped out of a bush and hit him on the head with a hammer, causing blood to stream down his face.

TransPennine Express passengers could face disruption from Storm...
PASSENGERS on the TransPennine Express train service which runs through Scunthorpe could face delays due to bad weather caused by Storm Doris.
High winds caused by the storm are expected across the North of England and Scotland today which may have an impact on some rail services.

Motorcyclist dies after crash in Bottesford
A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a crash on Holme Lane, Bottesford.
The 37-year-old sustained fatal injuries after his green Kawasaki motorbike left the carriageway shortly before 5.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, February 22), Humberside Police have said in a statement released on their website this morning.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Steel rescue: Contractors discharged from hospital
THE two contractors who were rescued by firefighters yesterday (Wednesday, February 22) from a bunker containing limestone on the British Steel works in Scunthorpe, have been discharged from hospital.
Neither of the men, who are employed by a specialist contractor, have yet been identified.

FAST food giants Subway are to open a sixth branch in Scunthorpe next week.
The latest Subway opens at the Asda store on Burringham Road at 7am on Wednesday, March 1.
Trading hours will be from 7am until 10pm Monday to Saturday and from 9am until 5pm on Sundays.

A WIDOW from Scunthorpe who fought a High Court battle, claiming her husband's death was caused by medical negligence, will not receive a single penny in compensation.
