A TASK force will meet for the first time in Scunthorpe today, charged with trying to help the 900 town steelworkers facing redundancy.
North Lincolnshire Council leader Liz Redfern announced her intention to launch the group last week when speculation started mounting about potential cuts.
Shortly after 10am yesterday the news the town feared was confirmed when Tata Steel said it was axing 900 jobs in the town.
Today a task force will set about trying to help those facing redundancy.
